Can’t add gift card to purchase on checkout (Square Appointments on Register)

Using Square Appointments on Square Register:  when checking out a client from the calendar, I’m able to add items to the transaction as part of the checkout process but have been unable to find a way to add a gift card to the sale.  Am I missing it or is this use case not supported?

Adding a gift card sale while checking out through an appointment is a limitation with the Square Register that engineering is aware of. You'll need to ring out appointment separate from the gift card sale.

Thank you, @JustinC .  This is a common use case for many transactions and I'm not sure how this could have been overlooked.  Is there a timeline when users can expect to see this added?
