can i automatically send an item (PDF) when an invoice is paid?

I sell inspection reports.  I'd like to automate the process so that when the invoice is paid, the report automatically emails to the customer.  Currently, once the invoice is paid, I have to manually email the report.  is there a way to automate this process?
