Credit card still processed on my new API integrated e-commerce webstore

...AND with the incorrect CVV code, incorrect zip code, and incorrect expiration date.

 

Doesn't seem very secure if you only need a card number.

 

Why did it do this?

Something definitely sounds off here. What 3rd-party integration are you using? Square's payment processing does require all forms of information to be correct to process payment; that includes CVV and billing postal code.
