Feature Request: Create packages including multiple services via Square Appointments

The title of this post has been edited from the original: How to schedule multi packs with Square Appointments?

Hoping to find some help here.  We offer a service that clients can pay for and book appointments online. Great. The problem is that there are discounted packages if multiple treatments are purchased at one time, if this option is chosen, the client is only able to schedule one appointment as opposed to multiple separate appointments for each of the treatments they purchase.  Is there a way to make this work? Thanks in advance.

Re: Create Recurring Invoices in the Square App

Hello @coriumesthetics!

As a workaround you could use recurrning invoices with Square Appointments for a package, and view the number of invoices remaining in the series. However, you can't images to a recurring invoice series, I'm sorry!

Another workaround is to create a single service for package deals you offer but you'd need to track the number of sessions completed manually. You could ask customers to contact you directly for packages, and then schedule each session in the package deal as a separate appointment to ensure clients are charged for each session.

I'm adding your post to this thread where other sellers are interested in using Appointments to create and manage packages. We'll update the status to give you a heads up about any developments on this feature request.

As for your question about marketing by text - you might like to subscribe to this separate thread for updates!

Re: How to schedule multi packs in appointments

Yep! While we don't have a way to automatically apply discounts when customers book more than one service, you can create bundles as individual services. For example if you are a personal trainer, you can list 5 sessions at the discounted price as one appointment.

When your customer comes in for their first appointment, you then can manually book their next, or all upcoming, appointments through your Appointments Dashboard. In your client information section of Dashboard you have the ability to add notes and view past appointments so you can keep track of their remaining appointments even if the schedule one at a time!

This is a real issue and makes me consider other providers over Square. I have been talking with Square about this since the inception of appointments. How much more tracking, Square Development team? Can you give us a status on this?

Hey there. I'm Devon, the Product Manager for Square Appointments.

I've certainly heard this request from a number of sellers through phone call interviews and surveys. As of yet, it hasn't yet fallen onto our near term roadmap. I understand how helpful this could be for your business, and this is not to say that we have no plans to build such a feature ever.

Simply put, we have to pick and choose the features we go and build. We want to do a lot so our product can be used by more and more of you! But with that said, if we do too many, we risk releasing features that are buggy or not fully thought through, and therefore unsuccessful at performing the function you need them to do.

So while I can't say that we'll be delivering this any time soon, your voice is heard, and I appreciate your feedback. When we do go and build this, you folks will be the first to find out.

Cheers!

Would using the Gift Card feature be beneficial for this? I want to do the same thing - sell bundles of sessions at a discount. Is there a way to set up the client profile and sell the bundle of sessions as a gift card? Then apply the credits to the appointments as they are booked??

Just wanted to add my vote for adding the ablilty to sell and deduct service items from prepaid packages!   It is a fundamental business practice of many service business.   We encourage our clients to save $ by prepaying for a package of services.   It increases average sales amount and cash flow for a business!  We currently have to track all those packages on a separate spreadsheet.   Not very efficient when I can run the rest of my business off of my phone using Square.  It is the number one reason that i have considered using another service.

Exactly. Id leave Vagaro too

I will be staying with my current online scheduling provider until series package purchase/tracking is fully integrated into Square Appointments. @Devon , where can I sign up to be notified should this feature ever become available?

Thanks for this feedback @MoveRevolution! We recommend you check back in the community by either subscribing to this thread or checking our product updates. We'll be sure to update any changes in Appointments there.

Seriously! It's insane to me that this is not a featue. It's clearly needed and Square appointments is great at just about everything else, but considering how many compeitors are out there that work almost as well and at similar and cheaper price points it doesn’t make sense to switch (for me anyways). I would switch tomorrow if this was an option, but it’s just not professional to have to track this manually. There is just too much room for mistakes and either lost money or frustrated clients. Considering how many have this option I really can’t believe that this would be that difficult to implement. And the fact that Square seems unwilling to put this on their “map” really leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Its shockingly  basic for appointment based business. I hope ‘the team’ will reconsider this. The fact that so many would switch to square as soon as this feature is released is a testament to what a great job the developers have done. However, the longer this is ignored, the better other apps are going to get and by the time this gets implemented all of us that need it might be happy and settled with other apps that have taken our needs more seriously. I really think square is missing out with this. I know lots of business use Square products that might not have a need for this and have a list of their own needs that wouldn’t apply to us beauty business owners, but the majority of people using an appointment app would need this feature as most services beauty related or not usually offer some type of package. Seems shortsighted to me to not work on this feature.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and interest @Glowskin

Can you provide some details on how you'd use this for your business specifically?

While I don't have anything new to report on the status of this feature, any specific business needs and use cases we can take back to advocate this for you would be a huge help in reprioritizing this moving forward.

I can give an example how I would use it.  We run a fitness and body composition testing business.  We offer single tests, 2 packs or 4 packs of tests.   As we encourage our clients to prepurchase a 4 pack and save over the single test price, without this feature I have to keep a separate spreadsheet of clients the purchase multiple test packages and deduct when the use them.

This should definately be a feature that Square should offer.  I could see it being used by a multitude of businesses, as 'package' pricing is a great way to upsell and generate additional cash flow now.
