Can I link my Appointments calendar to iCal or book on specific days?

Hi, I'm new to appointments and was wondering if it can also link with ICal?  I prefer that over google calendar.  Also, is there a way to set up scheduling for specific dates only?

@KBarnes66 - Welcome to the Seller Community, and to Square Appointments. We're excited to have you on board! 

 

To get going, would you mind sharing what email client you use with your iCal? Are you using an iCloud email account? We currently only have a direct link with Gmail calendars. Having said that, Apple's iCal app supports gmail accounts. If you sync a gmail account through the Square Dashboard and through iCal - it would work! 

 

For your second question, Square Appointments is designed with the intention of having a general calendar be avilable. Having said that, you could use the override hours feature to open available outside your schedule for indivdual staff members. If you check out Tom's Product Update thread, you'll find more details about how to set this up.

Hey there! Appointments Google Calendar Sync does enable you to import your Google Calendar events in such a way that they block off the time in your Appointments calendar.

 

What this means is that if you have an event from 12-1 on your imported Google Calendar, and that event is set to "Show me as Busy", your customers will not be able to book an appointment from 12-1 using your online booking site. There is currently no way to disable booking over blocked off time from the merchant-facing Calendar page.

I use Square Appointments (also used BookFresh before acquisition). My biggest problem with the appointments is that they do not sync up with my Google Calendar. There is a way to sync both Google calendar and Square calendar, but it is only one time sync.

 

I would like both Google and Square calendars to sync in real time so that I can manage my appointments and schedule.

Hi @promila, thanks for being a long-time Square Appointments customer! The Square Appointments–Google Calendar sync isn't just a one-time thing. They update continuously (though it can take up to 30 minutes to sync the calendars). And you can click Refresh to force a sync of that calendar.

Thanks for the reply, George. I just checked it. You are correct that it is syncing my Google calendar. However, it does not block the time where I have appointments in my Google Calendar.

 

For instance, my Google calendar shows that I have an appointment from 11 AM - 12 PM on 21st March. This time should be blocked from Square's appointment center, but that is not the case. I am able to book an appointment for 11 AM on 21st March using Square's appointment link.

 

Am I missing a setting on Square that can disable the time slots from being booked that are already booked using my Google calendar?

 

PS: I would be happy to share screenshots, if needed.

I have synchronized my google calendar with square to only export the square appointments.  However, it is not working.  I read you have to intitially allow square access to that calendar.  How do I do that?  I know how to allow one person's email access to my google calendar but can't find anything else on how to accomplish this.  Please help.

What if I have a full-day appointment booked on my calendar (birthday or location of where I'm working) will that block out my time for that day from clients being able to book on the appointments app?

 

I'd like to have it block out individual time slots I have booked, but not "all day" appointments, hope that makes sense.

Square Appointments syncs with Google Calendars and the Google Calendar app. You can check out how to get this setup in our Support Center

 

Square Appointments doesn’t currently support iCal or Outlook calendar syncing. We’re working to support additional calendars with Square Appointments, but for right now Google Calendar is the only supported integration. 

Is there a way to sync other calendars like iCal for example?
