Feature Request: Add Modifiers or Options to Services

Feature Request: Add Modifiers or Options to Services

PLEASE give the ability to add modifiers to services. This one omission is what keeps Square Appointments from being the perfect tool for my business.

Creating a separate service for each wanted modifier does not work, because just like items, certain modifiers only apply to certain services.

Being able to create modifiers for services, and possibly a time duration to each modifier to be added to the service time would be perfect. For example, as a vehicle detailing business:

SERVICE: Premium Detail (2 hrs)

Modifiers:

  • Hand wax +$10 (+20min)
  • Sealant +$20 (+20min)
  • Fabric Guard +$20/+$30/+$40 (+20min)
  • etc.

As you can see, having a $20 fabric guard as a standalone service does not make sense, as it can not be booked as a standalone service. It's an add-on modifier to the Premium Detail. And perhaps I have another detail package that includes the fabric guard in the price, so that modifier doesn't necessarily apply to every service.

I can see this same concept working flawlessly with many other industries as well, such as a hair salon. The service could be a haircut, and an addon modifier could be "shampoo & blow dry". But a shampoo & blow dry is not a standalone service- it only works as a modifier to a haircut service.

Not only would this functionality tie in perfectly with the way items are already setup within Square, but it allows us to remember all the upsale and crossale options for our services, thereby increasing revenue for both the merchant as well as Square.

Re: How do I get add ons available to book with a service

@Archilaveronica You can add variations to a Service, but there isn't a way to set up Add-Ons I'm afraid. It's a feature request we're tracking in this post.

In the meantime, I hope you can use variations to create different combinations of your services!

Re: Feature Request: Add Modifiers to Services

@AROBINSON we're with you, modifiers for services would be fantastic!

However, until this featuere comes around we've figured out a workaround.

Here's how it would look for you:

• Create your main services: "Premium Detail", "Standard Detail", etc.

• Then create more services: "+Hand Wax", "+Sealant", "+Fabric Guard 1", "+Fabric Guard 2", "+Fabric Guard 3", etc

When booking an appointment, it would look like this:

Mr. Joe Black

Thursday, Feb 7, 2019

9:00 AM-11:40 AM (2 hr, 40 mins)

Booked by You on 2/6/2019

SERVICES & ITEMS

Premium Detail (2 hours) $100.00

+Hand Wax (20 minutes) $20.00

+Sealant (20 minutes) $20.00

Total $140.00

I would like to add modifiers that can be selected when booking an appointment. For example: if someone is booking a 1hr Swedish massage, I want them to have the option to add a sugar foot scrub as a modifier. I don't see an option to do that on the "services" page.

Hi @jrhmassage

While you can't create modifiers for services, what you can do is create each option as its own service and enable your customers to be able to book multiple services in a single appointment.

You can do this from your Calendar & Booking tab of your Appointments Dashboard.

I have a million treatments i offer and when somoene is booking an appt its distracting having to scroll through all my services . The reason my list of services are so long is because Square has yet to introduce an add on feature. For instance if someone books a facial instead of having an add on button i have to make whatever the add on is a whole new treatment. I dont understnad how they dont have that feature yet it would be fantasitic and way more organized for the buisness owner and the structure of booking would be cleaner. Like a drag down add on feature. Like uber eats has if you want to add on any condiments etc to your order. Hoping they get on the ball about that because my list of treatments keeps growing and its getting confusing and doensnt look nice on the online booking app.

Thanks for sharing this feature request @feeltheheal! I've been on the other side of those service providers who have so many wonderful services to offer, it can be a long way to the service I actually want!

Do you have more to share about how you would envision this feature working? Would you want to be able to designate add-ons or just have the option for add-ons at a certain point through the scheduling process? Any other info you can share will be helpful to share with the team.

Kinda like how Uber eats has there’s. You order a dish and they provide a photo as well as an add on like a drop down menu . I think square should also allow us to add photos of our services . If I offer a facial it would be nice to have a photo and an add on button for a mask or an extra serum or moisturizer option etc... the buisness owner should be able to create their own add oNS and prices

I too would like to see this feature asap. Acuity Scheduling has this option.

There should be so many more features ! Add ons and pictures. So shocking that other scheduling apps have it and not a huge one like square only has basics , sad! Maybe I’ll switch to the one you just mentioned

I’m testing Acuity with a trial offer for free. It’s not live. The add-ons do not have a pic option but the main services do. I haven’t figured out how to implement some features.

I prefer some of the square options like not allowing people to book within same week & requiring a card to make an appointment. I have a small Med Spa that requires new patients to have a consult with my medical director first. The week out option helps with allowing for them to connect. I also like the fake it filter with Square during slower summer months. I am not sure if I’ll change to Acuity or stay with Square. But I’m with you on add-on being a necessity.

I own a detox/spa So I love when they book the same time in a week lol but what would be  neat is if the clients didn’t have to put their credit card in every time they booked an appointment maybe square could just remember their credit card on file  something like that where they sign in and can keep cards on file. lots of my clients complain that they have to put a credit card in every time they book . Love so many things about square but so many things would be great additions

I'm trying to set up ad-ons for our car wash/detailing services (carpet cleaning, paint repair etc etc).

What is the easiest way of doing this?
