New Rules regarding CVV and Visa transactions and charity giving.

We are a Canadian Charity that uses the Square for processing our Credit Card donations and POS purchases for our events.  There are new rules relating to VISA and collection of CVV on paper forms.  For security purposes, we are not allowed to ask for the CVV on our paper forms.  We would have the call the donors individually to optain this information.  Some charities have received exemptions from credit card processing companies in this regard.  We are wondering if Square is aware of this and if there is a procedure to request such an exemption in Canada.

Hi @UWSDG and welcome to the Seller Community!

We are aware of this and there's some options that you have in collecting payments.

Our Credit Card Authorization Forms don't have a space on them that ask for the CVV so you can still obtain card information for having it on file without this.

You can also send the customer an Invoice through the app or Dashboard to have them enter their card information in themselves.

In terms of requesting exemptions, you'd probably have to email our Support team directly to be connected to our Compliance team for follow up on that.

Hope this helps!
