Can a deactivated cell phone with wi-fi be used?

I have my old deactivated Samsung Galaxy s5 that I use for apps and internet. Since the card reader will not work on the new S7, and is compatible with the S5, can it be used with the cellular service (Sprint) not activated?

Yep, that would be fine! So long as you're able to connect to wifi and have consistent internet access, you can use your S5 to process payments.

I notice the S7 is now compatible with some carriers ... but not yet Sprint. Is there an ETA as to when The Galaxy S7 (Sprint) will be tested/compatible?
