Gift cards- when does the money get deposited into account.

I sold gift cards and the amount came up in my dashboard the day of purchase. Let’s say the gift card was $120 and that day my sales were $500, my dashboard had a total of $620 in sales. 

when the gift care was used the amount also showed up in my dashboard as a sale of $120. 

I thought it would be $0 because I’ve already collected the money. 

I feel stupid asking but I’m confused. Thanks!

you got the money the day you "sold" the gift card.  it will be deposited into your bank account then.  it shows up as a sale when it is used because up till that point the gift card was technically a liability against you as you owed that customer funds or services for that value.
