Has anyone had trouble keeping the square chip reader charged?

I am having a hard time keeping my chip reader charged. I charge it and get all the green dots, then I go to use it and it's dead

I have been trying to charge my new square and it has been going for over 6 hours.  Could there be something wrong with it
