How long does it take to be able to start accepting payments once signed up?

Hello,

I've just signed up to squarespace this morning and am planning to use my Square app this afternoon (in about 8 hours) to accept payments.

I'd like to know if i should be waiting for any kind of account verification before I start taking payments?

I have a small business linked to a personal card, so there were no problems linking the card to my account, and i was prompted to open the square app immediately and went through a $1 transaction test.

However, under account status, it still shows my status as 'verification in progress'. So i'm just wondering whether that means i should wait until the account has been completely verified to take payments, or i can start accepting today?

I would wait until your account is verified.  This could take a couple of days.  In the mean time you can make sure the rest of you stuff is set up.  Go through your accounts and settings and make sure your receipt, etc has all the correct information., Set up your categories, items, tax, etc.

If you don't have a reader I would go pick one up at a local retailer.
