New Square for Restaurants updates - schedule happy hour discounts🍻, run Live Sales, & more!

Check out all the new features we’ve launched with Square for Restaurants in the new year:

 

  • Time based discounts🍻: Now, you can schedule discounts for items, so you can run happy hour specials and set up other special discounts based on the time of day. Automatically apply discounts based on the time or schedule you choose. Apply discounts to categories, individual items, or entire menus with built-in flexibility. Select which employees and roles have permissions to apply time-based discounts. Find these new custom features when you click “Create a Discount” in your Discounts tab. Get started.

 

  • Live Sales📈: With the Live Sales tab, you’ll be able to view the overall performance of a shift, in real time. Live Sales include closed checks (with and without a finalized tip amount), as well as open checks. Check it out in the Restaurants app.  Since the Live Sales report reflects open checks, to view finalized sale amounts head to the standard Sales report in your Square Dashboard.

 

  • Category Rollup Reports🗞: Ever wanted to see multiple item categories like Liquor, Beer, and Wine under one custom Category like ‘Alcohol?’ We’ve introduced Category Rollups to do just that. Now, when you create a Category Rollup, you’ll be able to group and view the sales for several categories at once. Category Rollups are visible from your Category Sales and Item Sales reports online, and will also display on your in-app Employee Shift and Close of Day reports. Learn more.

 

  • Close Cash Drawers from anywhere💰: We’ve made new updates to how you can close your cash drawers. Now, you can can close your cash drawers remotely using either the Square Dashboard or your points of sale. Additionally, If you’ve had cash drawer open with no ability to close it (the ‘phantom cash drawer’ issue is what we call it!)  We’ve gone ahead and closed all the open ones, so you can worry less, and sell more in the busy season.   • Don’t forget - Auto 86ing🚫 Want to set item counts and have those items automatically mark themselves out of stock? Now, you can set up item counts in the app, see when your items are running low, and have them automatically disabled when out of stock. Give visibility to your entire team so they know when any item is running low, and keep your guests happy by letting them know what’s out of stock before they order. Love your happy hour feature in Square - will this be available in Weebly any time soon?  I have a weekly special that I am currently managing by changing the sale prices manually each week.  Not sustainable long term, especially in the current COVID environment. Thanks!
