Try the New Square Online Store!

We are excited to roll out the new Square Online Store over the next few months to sellers who created an online store on an older version.

 

The new Square Online Store gives you more features and flexibility:

 

  • More customization: Enjoy an increased variety of design options, multiple pages, layouts, color palettes and more to help build your brand and make your online store stand out. 
  • More features to simplify your workflow: Manage in-person and online orders from any channel all in one place with the new Orders tab.
  • More ways to grow your business: Take advantage of powerful eCommerce tools like Shopping on Instagram, built-in SEO, lead-capture form, and more to help your business grow.

 

Take advantage of the additional eCommerce features available with the new Square Online Store today in time for the holiday shopping season.  

 

To get started, take these simple steps:

 

  1. Go to the Online Store page from your Square dashboard and click on “Preview your new store.”
  2. From here, you’ll be able to see a preview of your new site.
  3. Feel free to make any edits to your site or go ahead and publish.
  4. Your new site will be live. Your old site will automatically redirect your customers to your new site.  

 

Who has access to the new Square Online Store

Whether you're new to Square Online Store or already created an online store on the older version, you now have access to the new Square Online Store today. However, if you have multiple sites (e.g. an Online Store for each location) or are outside of the US or Canada, you may not have access to the new Square Online Store yet -- our team is working hard to give you access soon. 

 

Why are we making this change?

We’ve been actively tracking seller feedback and feature requests for Square Online Store over the years and have been working on delivering a more robust solution to fit all types of seller needs. In 2018, we decided to acquire Weebly and leverage their eCommerce technology platform to power the new Square Online Store. Our goal is to have your Square Online Store work seamlessly with other Square products so that you can manage your workflow all in one place - no matter how you choose to sell.

 

Other important updates:

 

New Order Management

The new Square Online Store is directly integrated with the new Orders tab so all of your orders from your new online store can also be managed with other channels you use, such as Caviar or Postmates. Historical online store orders can be found in the Transactions tab or by clicking Online Store > View orders from your previous Online Store.

 

New Square Online Store Support 

As mentioned, with the acquisition of Weebly we gained much more than robust eCommerce technology. We now have an entire team of new Square Online Store experts and help articles to help guide you through the new platform and grow your eCommerce business.

 

Other Important Changes

We want to inform you that a couple important features that were included in the old Square Online Store may not work with the new Square Online Store right away. These features include: the ability for customers to reuse their payment information when checking out online, Item Library Discounts, and the ability to accept or reject orders before charging a customer’s card after checkout. We are actively working to bring you more features to power your online store. Learn more in our FAQs.

Hey @adamsmasher ! 

 

Thank you for this info! I have a quick question - we set up a Square/ Weebly site for our online store and I'm confused about which to use for certain items. 

 

I understand Square is in the process of transitioning items but when it comes to marketing apps, where is the optimal place to work from?

 

For instance , the weebly web builder currently houses our email form but then I see that Square has the marketing email designer. Do these applications currently work together or will I need to be conscious about only using the Square products in the interim?

Great question, @CannavaCBD! They don't currently work together, although if you want to take advantage of the submissions to your form I would use the marketing tools within your Square Online Store. That said, you can totally use the email addresses you've collected with the marketing tools in your Square account instead if you'd prefer that.

i do not see this on my store!  how do i get to the preview

For shipping, can I set up dimensions and weight of each item I'm selling, and does your online store connect to the USPS API to obtain postage rates? I currently have a wordpress store with a USPS plug-in that does this, but I'm looking to get out of my current arrangement because it's forever being plagued by new incompatibilities (customer today couldn't check out with an iPad, for example). Does your online store let me set up containers (different sizes of boxes) that it will fill with the items the customer is buying?

Great question, @Soleilmoon. You can set the weight for individual items (and item variations), and assign specific box sizes to that item. In your Shipping settings, you can set up any number of different box sizes. We don't currently let you set the dimensions of the item itself, although setting a specific box size for the item provides the same function.

 

For real-time shipping rates, we currently integrate with USPS, Fedex, UPS,  and DHL. For those in Canada we have Canada Post instead of USPS.

1) So, stored customer credit card info from the old store cannot be accessed when using the new store.....can e-gift cards that were purchased at the old store be used by customers when purchasing at the new store?

 

2) is existing customer list accessible at the new store...Or is it creating a whole new customer list based on new orders?

 

3) if I transition to the new store and absolutely hate it, can I unpublish and go back to using the old store?
