Why are the tip rules changing for Payroll?

Got the notification that distributing tips via Payroll is changing on 12/1/21. Why?

The current rules allow us to tip all the team members equally over the pay period. The new rules would negate that. We'd have to cancel the feature.

@RiverMaiden I am gonna ask one of the mods to merge this post with the current thread that has alot more detail, currently it has been put off till next year while square keeps looking at the change, so don't panic!!
