Because of takeout no-shows, we require a credit card over the phone to place an order. In all three cases the card was given to us over the phone, keyed in by an employee, approved and order sent to the kitchen.
In all three cases the charges were disputed and charged back because the order was entered manually.
Does Square not allow you to pre-approve a purchase then dip the card when the food is picked up to complete the order? IF not we will have to stop taking call in orders entirely.

Hey @dwg014,
Sorry to hear your customers are charging these back. You're correct that we don't offer any kind of pre-approval process.
There's a higher risk involved with manually entering payments yourself in terms of chargebacks for sure. If you manually enter a card and it's charged back, your best chance of fighting those cases are proof of ID and card matched shown. Some sellers take a photo of it when they come to pick up the orders.
I typically recommend taking manual payments on the Virtual Terminal on the Dashboard as well instead of the Point of Sale app because to the bank- the Point of Sale app is intended for in-person payments where the card could've been inserted. With Virtual Terminal, it shows them the payment wasn't able to be taken in person.
