Assign suppliers to stock i tems

I want to add a supplier to each item, so I can track who supplies me that item.  Say if I need to re-order, I can quickly see who the supplier is (I have many suppliers).  I don't use modifiers, so maybe I can create a modifier for each supplier and tick the supplier on each item?  Would love suggestons.

At the moment Square's inventory management system doesn't feature the ability to add supplier details to an item - though I'd be happy to pass on your feedback to our product development team as a feature request.
