Bluetooth not pairing! Square to iPad

Bluetooth not pairing! Square to iPad!! Panic! 

just not showing up in Bluetooth (discover new devices) 

 

any help out there?

Do you have a strong internet connection? - I’ve found that to be the problem for me in the past.  Have you pressed the button on the square device until 3 lights are flashing?  I also force the connection on the iPad under settings Bluetooth.

Hi , yes, strong internet connection 

there are 4 lights on the square? not 3?

Hey @Mick,

 

Thanks for getting in touch and sorry to hear you're having trouble connecting your reader.

 

Could you please try the following:

 

1) Forget the reader from anywhere it appears in your Bluetooth settings and also the Square app (via Settings > Hardware > Square Readers)

 

2) Hold down the button until the lights completely STOP flashing red. This performs a hard reset on the reader.

 

3) Once you've reset the reader, try connecting the reader again (via the Square POS app and NOT your device Bluetooth settings) then running a $1 test transaction on your own card as per the instructions here: https://squareup.com/help/au/en/article/5639-set-up-the-square-contactless-chip-card-reader

 

Let me know at which point you're getting stuck and we'll see if we can get things going!
