Payments on website vs portable terminal

I just signed up for Square, and added it as a payment option in our Checkfront-hosted website.  Our actual physical location is in Panama, but our legal business entity, and all our banking, website hosting, etc is in the US.  I understand that we can't use the portable terminals to process credit cards here in Panama, but is there any issue with doing it on our website from here?

We do have someone in the US who can process the cards there when necessary, but then we would have to send her the card numbers, expiration date, etc by WhatsAp or some other text format that might not be secure.  Plus she's not always available at a moments notice.

If it won't work from here due to location issues, will it work if we set up a VPN with a US IP address?

Hi @saboga

While you won't be able to accept actual card payments like you mentioned, you should be able to process web payments on your website with no trouble.

Since you have a US Square account, your account would support our API’s and be able to process the payments, but remember that they'll be processed in USD.
