What if I forgot to use my referral link when I signed up? Can I still add it. Or should I deactivate my avvput and start over?

It's really not worth starting over, you're only saving $27.50 in fees on that first $1,000 processed.  So you will probably spend more of your time than it is worth.

I think I've seen on a different thread that they can get you set up for the free processing.  You'll also be rewarding the person/business who referred you.
