We’re delighted to announce that you can now connect the Brecknell 6700U scale or the CAS SW-RS scale to your Square Stand for iPad (2021, 2020, 2019), iPad Air (2019), and iPad Pro 10.5".
With a USB scale you can get weight readings automatically and check out your customers faster.
To connect your scale correctly, you must have the latest version of the Square app on your iPad (version 5.84). Also, please ensure that you have correctly set up items to sell by weight and have connected the scale to your device by following the steps below.
Connect a USB scale to your Square Stand for iPad (2017, 2018), iPad Pro 9.7", and iPad Air (1, 2):
- For iPads with Square Stand, you will need the serial-to-HID adapter sold separately on Square Shop.
- Plug in the 9 pin male end of the serial-to-HID adapter into the port on your scale. To keep the adapter firmly connected, twist the security screws into place.
- Plug the Micro-USB end of the cable into the adapter, and plug the USB-A side of the cable into your scale.
- To check the connection, open the Square Point of Sale app and tap the three horizontal lines on the navigation bar.
- Tap Settings > Scales.
- The connected scale should appear in the app menu as USB Scale.
Connect a USB scale to your Square Stand for 10.2" iPad (2020, 2019), 10.5" iPad Air (2019), and iPad Pro 10.5":
- Plug in the 9 pin male end of the RS232 to USB cable into the port on your scale.
- Insert the USB-A end into the Hub of your Square Stand
To check the connection, open the Square Point of Sale app and tap the three horizontal lines on the navigation bar. - Tap Settings > Hardware > Scales.
- The connected scale should appear in the app menu as USB Scale. Keep in mind your Square Point of Sale app can only connect to one scale at a time.
To disconnect the scale, simply disconnect the cable. Keep in mind, you can only pair one USB scale with your Square Stand at a time.

Where can I buy the Brecknell scale or CAS SW-RS scale and cables?
You can purchase the Brecknell 6700U series scale on Square Shop (cable included). If you already have the scale, you can order the USB cable separately. This USB cable will allow you to connect your Brecknell 6700 series scale or CAS SW-RS scale to your Square Stand.

Is the CAS PD-2Z Scale supported with Square Stand?
The CAS PD-2Z Scale is not currently supported with iOS devices.
Will I be able to connect my Brecknell scale to a Square Register or Terminal?
Yes, the Brecknell and CAS SW-RS scales can be used with Square Register, Square Terminal and Android tablets. Visit our Support Center to learn more about hardware compatibility.
