Free Square plugin now available for WooCommerce

WooCommerce integrated Square’s Transactions, Catalog, and Inventory APIs in one easy-to-install extension to make selling online and in-person simpler.

For developers who manage WordPress or WooCommerce sites for clients: we wanted to make sure you saw that the Square extension for WooCommerce is now available to install for free. This has been a top request from sellers and developers alike, and we’re excited it’s now a reality.

The extension, which was previously available for $79/year, has been instrumental for businesses that sell both online and in-person, like Maryland-based Candles Off Main. “Using Square in-store and online has made running my business simpler: one provider, one set of reports, and automatic inventory syncing with my WooCommerce store,” owner Michael Waldon shared with our Product team.

WooCommerce achieved this by integrating with Square’s Transactions APIand payment form, Catalog API, and Inventory API. Since everything is pre-built, the implementation process is quick — just download and configure the extension per the documentation.

Is this the same as the Woo Commerce for Square "Plugin" or is it something different?  I have been using the "Plugin" for a while and am frustrated that none of the product data is maintained when the payment is processed to Square.  It makes our accounting tasks really difficult.  Any chance this is a new integration that might solve my problem?  I need the product SKU or name to transfer with the payment info into square so I can see what products are in each deposit.  Thanks.

This post was actually made by a Square employee and has Square employees replying throughout. 

With third party integrations it's best to reach out to the third party directly if you're experiencing issues with said integration since it's their platform and they'd be able to assist you further.

Does this mean, I can create a better website layout if I download WooCommerce.. I want to pay a graphic designer to make my website presentation amazing, and with weebly its not customizable. Will this give that to me???

@merakico I would encourage you to check out WooCommerce's layouts to see if they better fit what you're looking for. 🙂 We will only handle the plug-in from our side, allowing you to accept credit cards through us, but you will run your entire website through WooCommerce.
