We’re excited to announce that we’ve launched item options for Square for Retail!
Starting now, you’ll be able to quickly create and organize your item variations by combining item options.
You will be able to create items with multiple variations faster, and offer a better checkout experience to your customers in Square Online Store. Your customers will be empowered to make better purchasing decisions, such as selecting an item’s size and color.
Options are a set of attributes you can apply to multiple variations in your Item Library. You can quickly create and organize item variations by combining options with just a couple of clicks from the item details page.
For example, let’s say you create two item option sets: Sizes and colors.
- Sizes: Small, medium, and large
- Colors: Red, blue, and green
If you create a new item, e.g. shirts, you can apply each item option set to create new item variations (e.g. small, green, or large, red).
You can create an item option directly from your online Square Dashboard:
- Navigate to Items in your online Square Dashboard, under Item Properties > Options.
- Select Create an Option Set > enter your set name, display name and set type.
- Add item options based off of your chosen display name.
- Select Add Option, choose your option(s) click Done > Create Variations. Repeat this step for all options you would like to add.
- Add each new variation details (such as SKU and unit cost). Once you’re all set, click Save.
