We’ve rolled out a new feature, offline payments, that enables you to take contactless and chip+PIN credit card payments on Square Stand and Square Reader (2nd generation and 1st generation, v3) when you do not have internet connection. Offline payments are already available on Square Register and Square Terminal, and we are excited for the expansion of this feature!

Allowing offline payments is easy…
In your Square POS App tap More > Settings > Checkout > Offline payments > toggle on > Allow.
Once you’ve activated offline payments your customers can tap or insert their credit cards without you being connected to the internet for up to one hour. However, you must reconnect to the internet within 24 hours of the first offline payment to upload transactions taken while offline. Please be advised that INTERAC debit cards do not work offline.
