New: Square Messages now Available in Canada

We're excited to announce the launch of Square Messages, a streamlined communication channel for your and your buyers!

You can now create a single channel for all your communications with customers through Square Messages. You can send and reply to messages via text or email, such as feedback and replies to receipts.

Square Messages is accessible from your online Square Dashboard and is available with all Square apps on Android and iOS devices, including Square Appointments, Square for Retail, Square Point of Sale, and Square for Restaurants. 

What are some of the benefits of Square Messages?

• Save Time: Answer customers’ questions, while attending to any immediate needs of the business.

Square Messages use on Tablet Apps:

1. Square says Square Messages will show notification in the Square Appointments App, however this is currently not functional for me (on android tablet app). I only see notification if I open Square POS App, which I don't use when using Square Appointments.

2. Clicking on Notification (in Square POS App) opens web URL to Squareup.com, very slow and delayed process to respond to messages. I'm hoping this will soon be integrated directly into Square POS and Square Appointments Apps, and include Push Notifications (in Settings I have Push-Notifications activated, but not receiving Push-Notifications on any device).

3. How do you delete Messages?

Currently a client can respond to their appointment Text Message, perhaps indicating that they must reschedule, and I don't receive any notification that I have a new message until I either open Square POS, or check my email. Until this can be corrected, and for other business that do not want to use Square Messages, all businesses should have the option opt-out of Square Messages.

I used to used a Square contact from for future clients to send a request for a service, but this new Messaging system makes it impossible to manage the hundreds of emails I get when I do my bookings. It used to go through emails, but now the *only* option is to communicate through Square. PLEASE allow and opt out option.
