Hi Seller Community,
We wanted to update you on a few changes in regards to the on-demand delivery feature on Square Online. California recently passed Proposition 22, which goes into effect on December 16, 2020. As a result, DoorDash and Postmates will be raising fees on their platform to help cover new benefits for delivery people in California.
How does this affect sellers in California?
- Starting January 4, 2021, DoorDash and Postmates will be raising fees across all of their platforms to help offset higher operating costs and provide additional protections for delivery staff.
- Starting January 4, 2021, DoorDash will automatically increase delivery fees per order by $2. The delivery fee your customers will see will change from $6.99 to $8.99 for deliveries up to 3-5 miles.
- Starting January 4, 2021, Postmates will automatically increase the delivery fees per order to $4.50 + $0.95/km.
To determine how much of these fees will be paid by customers and set a separate service fee, you can visit your delivery settings on the Dashboard.
