The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally here — Square now supports decimal quantities for your item library on iOS! It’s been a long time coming and to-date it’s one of the most sought after features by Square Sellers, so we’re very excited about this release! Update: This feature is also available for Android devices!
What’s changing?
You can now add unit types and precision to track and sell items in decimal quantities — such as products sold by weight, volume, or length.
When you create a unit type, you’ll see a list of common units, including measures from both the metric and imperial system. You can also create a custom unit type by typing a name, abbreviation, and setting the unit precision up to the ten-thousandths place (.00000).
You can use both preset or custom unit types for different items and variations.
**Note**: Decimal Quantities are not yet supported in the Square for Restaurants app, Square Register, or Square Terminal.
