Hi Seller Community! I'm delighted to announce a brand new feature for sellers using Square Online in Canada: On-demand delivery with DoorDash.
What does on-demand delivery do?
On-demand delivery enables you as a seller to offer commission-free delivery to buyers on your site, even without your own drivers. When an order is placed, a driver from DoorDash is dispatched to deliver it. Activating on-demand delivery directly via Square Online offers you these key benefits:
- Increase your profits by reducing the order commission fees you pay
- Build and maintain direct relationships with your customers relationship
- Keep all order details in one place
Note: At this time alcohol delivery with DoorDash is available in the following provinces: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec.
How does pricing work?
There is a flat dispatch fee of $1.50+ tax per on-demand delivery order and DoorDash charges $8.50 + tax per delivery within 3-5km. Square’s standard card processing fees apply to on-demand delivery orders.
You can pass delivery costs on to your customers, pay it yourself, or cover it for orders over a certain amount (e.g., you could offer customers free delivery for orders over $50).
Other delivery apps can charge as much as 30% commission — when you apply this across hundreds of delivery orders each month, it can come out to a sizable amount of savings for your business.
