All Square Register, Square Terminal and Android sellers can now also offer gift cards as a refund option for your customers.
This will be rolling out over the next few days, so keep that in mind when using this functionality!
To issue a refund follow the instructions below:
Refunds can be issued from a physical gift card by swiping or key-in the 16 digit. eGift cards can also be used if you key in the 16 digits.
To issue a refund:
- Tap the following icon in the navigation bar:
- Tap Transactions from the navigation menu.
- Search the receipt number or full credit card number to find the transaction.
- Tap the transaction to refund > Issue Refund.
- Select item(s) to refund and choose to restock returned items > Refund.
- Tap Add Gift Card or Swipe, then swipe or enter the gift card number > Refund.
Square Gift Cards have a $2000 load limit. You cannot refund more than $2000 to a gift card, including the existing balance on the card.
Refunds processed through Square must be requested and completed within 120 days of the date of the transaction.
