Dollar amount discount not showing up on Point of Sale

Hello everyone!

I've created two discounts, one 10% off and one $30 off. The % discount button does show up alright when i tap on an item, but the $ one does not. I've sign out and in, i've tried creating them from the website or from the app to no avail.

What makes me think it's a bug is because i have modified the $ off discount, put it as a % and it showed up alright. Has anyone experienced this before?

Thats the problem. I can take $10 off of the whole sale. not an individual item. It splits the $10 between all items and in a weird way.

Hey @Pamalupagus, I'm just stepping in for @Arie here! 

To apply $ discount to a specific item rather than the whole sale, a workaround would be to use an automatic discount. You can do this by enable Discount rule when creating your discount and apply it to the item or category you need.

I only apply discounts to an item if a customer refers another customer. Not every time. Therefore, a button would work when needed. Apparently, this is not an easy task for the engineers at square to accomplish.
