Extended Barcodes using Barcode Scanner

We sell comics and magazines.  Typically the barcodes for these is divided into two parts.  The main UPC 12-digit code is the title of the magazine.  The secondary 5-digit code is the specifics to each issue, like the issue number, the variation of that issue if there are multiple covers, etc.  I can't seem to figure out how to get Square and the barcode reader to read the full code. It only scans the 12 digit code, which is extremely problematic from an inventory standpoint.  Is this a setting, so am I out of luck on this one?

Hey @Pop_Cultured, thanks for this question! I ran it by our Retail team and they mentioned that you might need to check your scanner settings so that it can read these bar codes. For example ,if you have the LS2208 scanner this section of the documentation has the steps to Decode UPC/EAN/JAN Supplementals (page 12-9). Can you try checking the documentation for your scanner to see if there's a way to configure it to read these barcodes?
