You're able to cancel any automated marketing campaigns and blast campaigns with a coupon at any time. However, Updates, Event Invitations, and Product Announcement blasts can't be cancelled.

@RBBS You will need to sign into your Square Dashboard. Then head to the Marketing tab where you sent the campaign from. There is no tab specifically for campaigns, I'm not sure where you got that option. 🤔

Once you're on the marketing page click on the name of your campaign like the image below:

Then you will be taken to a new screen that will allow you to cancel the campaign. You can see the cancel option in the top right. Take a look at the image below:

If you still need help please let me know!

Hello @RBBS, I can help with this. On your Square Dashboard head to the Marketing tab. Then click on the name of the campaign and select cancel at the top of the screen!

Please let me know if you still have questions! 😀

I am having the same issue - can't cancel an Active Campaign. Your assistance is greatly apprecaited.

Some additional info that may help...

  1. I only use the free features within the Marketing module so I do not pay for the additional features.
  2. I started experiencing this issue around Dec 1, 2021. Prior campaigns would run and then end as expected. Since Dec 1, none of my campaigns end. They all remain active.
  3. I was able to cancel a previous campaign when I noticed it was still active (but shouldn't have been based on my settings). However, the option to cancel active campaigns has disappeared (like the dinosaurs of old). So, now all my campaigns are active.
  4. I did enable Facebook integration around the same time this unusual behavior started. Could be completely unrelated but wanted to mention it to see if this was a pattern with others experience the same issue.

Why can't you cancel Updates, Event Invitations, and Product Announcement blasts? I have a major mistake in one and I can not even edit it and resend it!!

Sorry to hear about the trouble with this—at this time, you can only cancel an automated marketing campaign or a blast campaign with a coupon. Updates, Event Invitations, and Product Announcements can't be cancelled as they are a sent immediately. In order to prevent confusion with your customers, you may want to create a new blast campaign with the corrected information, then re-send.

I hope this helps clear things up and, again, sorry for the frustration. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Personally I think there needs to be a change with this so that we can cancel any campaign at any time. I have one that keeps going out, if we send an update to it it looks sloppy.

There seems to be confusion in the difference between "MARKETING CAMPAIGN" and "MARKETING SUBSCRIPTION,"  The latter being a monthly fee if you have an active campaign or not.  I am trying to cancel the monthly subscription service and the directions I've been given by my research via square's help claim I go to Subscriptions, Marketing, click "cancel."  This is incorrect. The help assistant even sends me to ACCOUNT SETTINGS, PRICING AND SUBSRIPTIONS. My marketing invoices and pricing are there, but, there is not a CANCEL button that I have found.

Can you help with this? I just want to cancel this monthly subscription fee of $15.

Hey @CallTheMaverick - Those are definitely the right steps to cancel your Marketing Subscription so it's strange that you're not seeing an option to do so within your Dashboard. I've escalated your case to our CS team so they can take a look at what's going on for your account. They'll reach out via email so keep an eye out on your inbox!

So Updates are sent right away, what if you have them resending in 5 days if unopened? You can't cancel that either?

Really dumb. You should be able to cancel any campaign from active status to ensure it's not resent. If it's one and done, why does it show as active??

@anjanettebixel You're right, you can't cancel an Update campaign at this time. I'm sorry for the frustration this has caused. 😞

Also when you first draft your campaign you can choose not to send reminders in Review & Send step. But after the campaign has been sent you can't disable reminders.

A campaign can be active for a few different reasons — this Support Center article has more information: Your Square Marketing Campaign Status.

I'm in the same boat. We sent our blast as a one day sale. The "coupon" option available didn't work for the way we had it set up for our website. Now people are getting the same email 5 days later and the sale is long gone.
Will this continue to resend every 5 days? **Please say no**

Hey @ReginaClose.

Thanks for your comment.

You can cancel any automated marketing campaigns and blast campaigns with a coupon at any time. Update, Event Invitation, and Product Announcement blast campaigns can’t be cancelled. Sorry about that.

Follow these steps to cancel a campaign:

  1. Visit Marketing in your online Square Dashboard
  2. Select the Active campaign you’d like to cancel > click View > Cancel.
  3. Select whether you’d like to still honor unredeemed coupons or cancel and invalidate them.
  4. Click Cancel Campaign.

If you'd like to discuss this with a Square Marketing specialist, please give us a call. Happy holidays!  🎆

I too made the mistake of not removing your instructions in the set up!

already getting openings and this is embarrassing. You need to correct that DISCLOSURE DISCLOSURE DISCLOSURE THAT THIS CAMPAIGN CAN  NOT BE CANCELLED!

You should have better instructions and "warning" in the sections to edit before sending.

I hate this!

Thanks for flagging this @tgailey. I'll share this with the Marketing team so we can make this clearer or include a warning before you send a campaign.

So why did you all never set up that warning? I had a holiday campaign, and my customers are still receiving the same email. It's **bleep**ing them off, and it's really frustrating that there doesn't seem to be anything we, as Square customers, can do about it! Technology is so advanced. Please add a cancel/delete/remove option!!
