How do I delete a category on my Square Online website?

The title of this post has been edited from the original: How do I delete a category in Square Online Store Weebly template?

 

Hi - I can't seem to find the answer of how to delete a category page that I no longer want using the Weebly templates that came with the Square Online Store.

 

Is that possible or am I stuck with this category forever?

You can delete a category by heading to your Square Online overview page > Items > Site Categories hover over the category you want to delete to view the Add subcategory and Delete category icons:

Hi @AVCollection- Would you mind posting a screenshot of the category page that you're referring to? I'm not exactly sure which page you're talking about, so I want to make sure we're literally on the same page! Thanks!

Did you ever find out because I'm having the same issue. I even deleted the entire shop page to start from scratch and that didn't work.

Hey @Simscott! Welcome to the Community.

 

I reached out to the folks over at Weebly and they said there isn’t a way to delete the page unless they delete the category in Item Library > Categories. 

 

If you have it in your navigation and just don’t want it there- then you can edit your navigation to remove it (there’s a link to edit the navigation after clicking the pages dropdown).

Do you get a "delete" option after clicking on the three dots next to the category?

 

The other way I would think of is by going to your dashboard through squareup.com and selecting Online Store > Items > Categories > Select the category > Click on "delete" in the top right-hand corner.

Hi @Nml128,

 

If you go to your categories in your Square Dashboard, you should be able to remove any duplicates. If there's no duplicates, it could just be the layout that you have set for your online store.

I was unable to find the correct solution to this through Square or Weebly support, but for anyone who needs to know how to delete categories, I did finally find out the one method for deleting store category pages after trying A LOT of different things before stumbling upon this:

 

Shop ALL page (or a category page) --> Item List --> Category Links --> Arrange & Add Category Links --> Hover over desired category and Click the Elipses ( . . . ) --> Select DELETE CATEGORY.

 

NOTE: This does not require you to find any instances for items or anything else. It will even warn you that any items in this category will become uncategorized. This is the ONLY step and it will completely delete everything associated with this category, including creating a dead link (So make sure that you connect any nav to a new link in its place, otherwise it will just do nothing and stay on the same page - or potentially throw a 404?)

 

BONUS: The Arrange & Add Category Links section can also be used to reorder your category links as they appear in the NAV list, create a new category entirely, and completely edit a created category by adjusting its title name, adding an image, setting custom times, etc... (basically every setting that you initialized when you created it, but never were allowed to make any edits - yeah, you do that here ... rather UNINTUITIVE, considering that I expected the category links arrangement to be ... well, just NAV adjustments. But hey, we find it ALL!)

 

Anyways, hope this helps anyone who may want to know this information!
