How to process negative payment

At our business we sell Growlers which are large bottles of beer (64oz). These have a base price as well as an added deposit on the bottle. If the bottle is returned to us at a later date we pay out the deposit (in this case $3) to the customer. How can I set this up to work on square?

Sounds like discounts would work the best for you! You can create a fixed price discount ($3 for your growlers) and apply that discount every time your customers bring back their bottles. 

 

Each discount can have a unique name so your cashiers will know to apply the "growler return" discount and that will display on your customers receipt. Check out this Support Center article for step by step instructions: https://squareup.com/help/us/en/article/3955-create-and-manage-discounts.
