How do you assign an order on Square Stand to be for here or to go? Is there a way to create quick tabs in notes to assign customization to an item. For example we have a restaurant and a customer requests that we put no onion and no salsa on a particular item; are there quick button that can be in place to speed up transactions?

We've got you covered with this one. 👍
To start, when you're ringing up a sale with the Square app, there is an option to note whether customers are dining in, taking their items to go, or requesting delivery if you have "Dining Options" enabled.
You can check out this article for an in-depth explanation of how to get this feature set up.
As for the second part of your question, you would have to create a modifier set with these options, and then apply them to the applicable menu items.
Hope this helps!

Hey @CrazyCuban
I've moved your post over to this existing thread.
The Dining Options feature within your Square Dashboard should take care of this for you.
The dining option you select (For here or To go) will appear in multiple places, including on your customer receipts and reports from your Dashboard .csv files.

It would be nice if the dining option was a force. Either at the start of an order or at the end. That is one of my frustrations with my staff they forget to change from the default option. Not very often but enough to through things into chaos. They choose the busy times of the day to forget.

I am using the print order tickets option and I am looking for a way to mark an entire ticket as To Go. I considered using a modifier set but the only way I see to do that is to apply it to every item. I would prefer to have it be a single modifier for the order ticket and not each item. Is there a way to do that in square?

@VCB Is correct with that article. The dining options can be applied and edited within your Square Dashboard.

Is it possible to have the "To Go" header on the kitchen printer print in red instead of black? My kitchen staff misses this on about 75% of to-go tickets.

Hello @jheintz, that's a good question.
Currently our compatible kitchen ticket printers only offer printing in black and white. If Star Micronics or Epson makes a kitchen ticket printer that has color printing in the future, we could start a feature request thread to have it added.

You're totally right @jheintz21. 🙃
We have that one hyperlinked on our device compatibility article. I read the color of the device as the printing color options. Sorry about the confusion!
While this printer supports 2 color printing, we only offer printing in black and white. I'll make sure to share your request with our Product Team. 🙂

You are saying that you only offer printing in black and white, but mine prints modifiers red using Square Register. I've attached a photo demonstrating this.

Hey @jheintz21, I reached out to our Hardware Specialist about this!
So the red modifiers are a setting within your printer, rather than a setting in Square Register. If you were to use another Kitchen Ticket Printer the ticket would look identical with the exception of the red. Having only, "To Go" print in red would require Star Micronics allowing the header to be printed in multiple colors first. Then we would have to build out color printing options in the point of sale software.
We went through all of our support articles and right now there's no mention of color printing on Square. I'm going to reach out to our Content Team to get this changed.
If you have any other questions please feel free to reach out to me! 🙂

Hello @mmeyeram,
Welcome to our Seller Community!
Can we please get more details related to your question? When you say "red", are you referring to the color red? Just making sure we are on the same page.
We will be on the lookout for your reply.

How can I get 'To Go' printed on an order for my restaurants' kitchen ticket, so that kitchen knows which orders are 'for here' or 'to go'?

Hello and sorry for the late reply,
It sounds like you might benefit from using the Dining Options with the Square app.
This will allow you to note if a purchase will be "For Here", "To Go", or whatever dining options you need.
Dining Options will be visible on order tickets for your kitchen, customer receipts, and they’re included in online reporting.

This article tells you how to turn them on and add them, but it doesn't allow you to modify what the dine in or take out. I need the dine in to be tax free and the to go to be taxed. How do I do that?

Hello @zombiecarter!
Since this involves applying taxes, you'll find the option under the Taxes tab on the Square Dashboard. Right below Taxes you'll see Tax Rules for Dining Options. 🙂
