Block Clients

We really need the ability to block certain clients from scheduling.  No just declining them. There are those finding ways around the decline by utilizing another email address etc. Thank you

Re: Block Clients

This forum doesn't seem to work getting this feature to the proper channels. It for the customer to feel like they are getting some where but they are not. Maybe start to go to twitter and call them out because at this point Square has shown that they are NOT for solo practitioners and their safety! It has been YEARS of this now. YEARS!!! 35 pages of this request up to this point.  Look into GlossGenius for booking if you are a esthetician or massage therapist.

Re: Block Clients

Agreed! This has been one of the features missing. I used to use an online booking system that allowed you to toggle or “turn off” booking ability for that client specifically. I typically don’t have an issue with clients booking online but when they are not a fit with my business anymore and can’t respect my time, it’s necessary. This is a feature that is needed, regardless of no show protection being in place.

Re: Block Clients - Status changed to: Has Product Insight

Hi all 👋 Apologies for the delayed response here but I have returned with some insight from the Square Appointments Product Team! I'll share what they've told me below:

"We don’t have a specific feature for this yet but it’s on our roadmap this year. H
owever, many of our Appointments Sellers are already enrolled in Risk Manager, and can use the Risk Manager’s “Block payment cards” feature to block buyers from booking if the Seller has prepayment or no-show turned on. Unfortunately, there isn’t a good way to block clients from booking if the Seller doesn’t use prepayment or no-show, but this is on our radar for this year."

To learn more about how feature requests work, please see this post from one of our Seller Community Moderators. In the meantime, keep an eye out for any updates, here, in our Seller Community. We appreciate your input! 🙂

Re: Appointments feature request: Block Clients

Hi @mikethebarber

Nothing new to report on this at the moment, but it seems to be gaining more interest lately so hopefully we can figure out a way to help with situations like this.

One workaround that you can use would be to switch the Reservation Guarantee in your Appointments Settings to "Business must accept or decline all appointment requests".

This allows you to have more control over who actually books up time slots on your calendar.

Re: Appointments feature request: Block Clients

Hey there @UrbanShaveSD

Thanks for sharing this feedback. I can totally see where this feature would be useful for difficult clients and I'll share your feedback with the Appointments team. I've moved this to the Feature Request board where we can track this request.

This would be so helpful on so many levels. If we could even put in numbers that we "black list" and are not allowed to make appointments, that would be a great start. And from the looks of it, might be of great benefit to a lot of people.

Is there a way to block a customer from booking future appointments?

Clearly this is needed. Requiring a credit card will severely deter people from scheduling appointments, significantly damaging sales, which Square presumably doesn't want. If the only reason for requiring a credit card is a single harrassing customer who books and cancels/no shows constantly, the easy solution is to give us an option to block certain customers from being able to book an appointment, regardless of credit card info, using phone number and email.

I am trying to set up booking for my wardrobe consultation service. The consultations will all be done at the client's house. Naturally, I don't want to be getting appointments from people halfway across the country-- or even the state. Is there a way to only take appointments from people within, say, 25 miles of my main city and automatically decline appts outside that range?

If so, then as a follow-up question: is it possible to add an extra charge (for fuel) to people with addresses outside that range? For example, can I have a preferred region of 25 miles in which appts are not charged for fuel, an "extended" region of 40 miles in which an appt will have an extra $5 charge for fuel, and outside of that 40 miles I don't take any appts at all?

Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out about this @Souverian! We don't have a setting within Appointments that prevents customers from booking an appointment. But I moved your question to this thread so that you can check out Helen's Answer that talks about having the ability to review appointments when they're made so that you have the option to accept them or not.

Hopefully this workaround helps!

Thanks Nika, that was my backup plan 🙂

I have client who keeps booking and cancelling. This is her 4th time cancelling. We've never met. We are obviously not a good fit. How do I keep her from rebooking?

Hi @marieeugene,

I moved your post to a thread in the Community about blocking certain clients.

At the time it appears to be a feature request but you can add no-show protection to require a card on file for booking.

Check out @EJ_ 's best answer on the first page for more details.

I am a male therapist and I second this recommendation. As a male, we also can have female clients sexually harass us or stalk us. I really would love to be able to block a specific client from booking.

In other scheduling programs, the feature to block specific individuals from being able to book on-line is the click of a button in their client profile.  Does Square ever plan to create this feature?  It looks like the last person to post about this was in 2017, so is this even on the table?
