It looks like a transaction can only be refunded, not VOIDED or CANCELLED, yes?
The transaction just occured. We'd like to simply void or cancel it so that we never get the funds and the customer doesn't hae to wait 9 - 14 days for their refund.

Generally speaking, if you can void or comp a payment that hasn't yet completed processing. If the payment did complete processing successfully, you can issue a refund right away—though you are correct that it can take 9-14 working days for the customer's card to reflect the credit.
