How to absorb Square Fees into gift cards

Hi @membersince2012  I have just started using egift cards but the fees are pretty high.  How does one allocate the fees to the recipient rather than me having to absorb them all?

When using a system like Eventbrite I can select that the fees are paid by the person booking the event or workshop or I can choose to absorb the fees myself.  Doe Square EGift cards have a similar capacity?

Love to know how others do it.

Hey @ZodeKinesiology,

Thanks for reaching out!

To clarify, if your customers are buying gift cards from you via a card payment, the standard card payment fees apply for the purchase. Once a gift card is purchased there are no further fees charged when the customer uses the card to make a purchase.

In terms of passing on card payment fees to your customer in the form of a surcharge, this is a popular feature request for Square in Australia and it's something that may be developed in the future, though we don't presently have an ETA.
