Hi community! I'm looking to set-up an automated inventory process. I'm not sure if Square is my complete answer. It's a retail store where we have a consignment for clothing items, we'd like a system that we can manage item stock, provide logins to suppliers so they can see which of their items have sold / for how much $. The dream would also be to pay them through that system as well. Are we looking in the right direction with Square?

Unfortunately Square's free POS app is not really what you're looking for here. The app has some basic inventory tracking, but you won't be able to provide supplier logins or pay suppliers, track cost price vs retail price, or do the sorts of detailed inventory tracking you can do with inventory systems.
It sounds like you're after a more dedicated inventory tracking system - I'm not sure if they'll provide everything you need, but you may want to check out platforms such as Dear Systems and Stitch Labs. These can both integrate with Square POS.
