Square reader not pairing

Hi

New square reader

What ive done so far.

 

Registered details

Everything was successful 

Tried to pair via app

Bluetooth turned on

Wifi on

Tried various locations

Phone android compatible and updated

Square app updated

Square battery full 4 green lights

Cleared cache on Bluetooth devices

Restarted phone a million times

Reset square reader for 20sec

Internet connection is 100mb/s 

Why wont this thing pair ? Please?

@DroversDog   Please try the following steps to connect the reader:

 

1) Forget the reader from anywhere it appears in your Bluetooth settings and also the Square app (via Settings > Hardware > Square Reader)

2) Hold down the button until the lights completely STOP flashing red. This performs a hard reset on the reader

3) Turn your mobile device off and back on

4) Once you've reset the reader and your mobile device, try connecting the reader again (via the Square POS app and NOT your device Bluetooth settings) then running a $1 test transaction on your own card as per the instructions here.

 

Let me know at which point you're getting stuck and we'll see if we can get things going!

I've reset the square again.

I've turned off the ipad again (before turning off I also turned off bluetooth)

Now it is turned back on.

I am in the square app.

Where do I turn the Bluetooth back on within the app? Or is the app just supposed to be open when I then turn Bluetooth back on?

@DroversDog You're not actually turning Bluetooth off here, and this isn't doable from the Square app - that first instruction was to forget the reader from two seperate places, if it appears in either of those two places:

 

  • The Bluetooth Settings on your phone
  • The Square Point of Sale app

If there is no reader listed under Settings > Hardware > Square Reader in the app, please move to the next step.
