Hi,

 

We quickly built a Square/Weebly Online Store this week so that people could place contactless/curbside orders for our gelato shop. It's working great and I love that the tickets print out when it's time to make the order.

 

We are also implementing a local delivery service where people can preorder with us and we'll deliver it on Friday night. Right now we're doing it by email to take their item order and we respond back with a Square Invoice to capture payment. Has anyone successfully found a way to do local delivery with the Online Store platform?

 

It would be awesome if besides Pickup or Shipping, merchants could toggle on a Local Delivery button and the merchant could set a few options, such as "Delivery on Friday night, 4-7pm," "Delivery on Saturday afternoon, 12-6pm." Maybe with an option to assign a fee, but that's less important during this emergency response.

We are currently testing Batch Processing in our Beta Community, which may help you out. This is another update to allowing pre-orders on your online store.  We'd love for you to join in the test and provide feedback.

 

To get started:

Please join our Square Online testing group.
Once accepted there are instructions in the group of how to get started in the test.

We are a plant shop that wants to allow customers to pre-order specific plants that we are growing, however, won't be able to deliver them until a few weeks in the spring. We are trying to lengthen the window to sell to match the window where they might be planning their purchases.

Square, it would be very helpful from a retail standpoint for you to allow pre-orders. We may be looking elsewhere for POS/online options if this doesn't get solved soon.

I, too, definitely need this feature. I own an art supply store that prepares kits for art and architecture classes at Virginia Tech. We take pre-orders for these kits up to 3 months in advance of when they will be made available for pickup. The dates that populate at checkout and in the customer's order confirmation email create confusion for the customer and are SUCH a headache on our end because of the number of emails we have to answer about the pick-up date issue. A single kit may be purchased by 150+ students and we assemble upwards of 10 different kits a year. So, you can imagine what I'm facing without a pre-order feature.

We're an official Square Partner and specialize in "pre-order" technology, hence our name being Pre-Order. We're super cheap and fast. Let us know if you want some help to just get something that fits what you're doing perfectly.

Hi Joe,

I'm having a similar issue in that we've taken pre-orders for items that will ship in June/July. We cannot allow those orders to expire or be reversed, so I'm wondering how best to proceed. If I check them as 'In Progress,' will they stay in the system until as long as I want (June/July)? Do you have any other suggestion?

Hi,  I have a couple time based items,  specials only available in certain days while we are open.  Today is thursday and one of the items should be available to order but it doesnt let me click on it and put it in cart;  it says "available later" .  Even tho the item is avalable in certain days I would like for customers to be able to pre order. Please help!

When you place items in time-based categories, ordering ahead of time is not possible.

This would be considered a feature request, so I've moved your post to this thread where others are asking for increased functionality in regards to their ability to offer customers the option to pre-order their items. We'll be sure to drop an update here if we make any major changes to the way this feature works, so stay tuned for new posts!

Hey Valentina,

 

I don't believe that's true anymore. If you have scheduled pickup available, a customer can adjust their pickup date/time to when the Category is next available, and then add those items to their cart and check out.

Can you show me how to make it work?

Is There A Way To Mark Items "Coming Soon" Online 

 

I receive new collections each Friday.  I would like to mark items online as "Coming Soon" or make them available for pre-order.  

 

Is there a way to do that?  Like how the label SOLDOUT comes up.
