How do I set up the online checkout to accept Digital items and Shipping items on the same checkout?

I have several items on my store.  Some are digital others are physical items  When the customers selects a digital item and selects a physical, and then they look at their cart,  there is an "error" message at the top of the screen that basically says.  "items in your cart have different fulfillment methods, you must purchase them separately.      How do we allow both types so the customer doesn't have to do multiple transactions?

There isn't a way right now to do this unless you change all your non-physical items to physical or vice versa. I'm merging your post into a feature request thread about this so you can get updated if we do support checking out with both in a single cart.

Thanks for your response. We found a workaround by recreating all of our food items as a 'service' instead of 'prepared food and beverage.' 

 

Of the items types available when creating a new item (physical, digital, donation, membership, event, service, prepared food & beverage), which ones can be combined in a single transaction?

Hello @HISAccounts - The items that can be combined at checkout are physical items as well as food & beverage items.

Is there a setting someplace that I am missing?

I have a digital membership and I have a physical item that can be picked up.  We don't have shipping options.

If you try to checkout with both the membership and the physical item, it says that "The items in your cart have different available fulfillment methods (digital delivery , pickup).  You must purchase these items separately".

 

Should I just change them both to a physical or digital fulfillment method and move on or is there a way to set them up correctly and allow them to be purchased together?

would you be able to handle donations by allowing tips at the checkout screen? or adding donation modifiers with a $ amount attached?

We are a nonprofit and are selling items from our gift shop online.  We want people to be able to donate but every time I test out someone buying a book and making a donation it says "The items in your cart have different available fulfillment methods (shipping, pickup, digital delivery). You must purchase these items separately."  I don't want them to make two separate purchases.  Then they are not going to follow through.  Donations don't give shipping options?  What do I do?

I ran into this issue last week when I offered shipping and ended up only offering shipping through my site. Now that I'm switching back to local pickup at one location this coming Saturday, I am getting the same message at checkout. Its only certain items even though they all are available at the one location and for pickup only. I'm about to have a nervous breakdown and have customers contacting me saying they cannot order. Please help!!!!

We are using the free Square web store. We are teaching online classes and have them listed as Events on our web store. If a customer wants to sign up for a class and purchase the accompanying kit for either pickup or shipping, they must do two separate transactions since the 'delivery method' is not the same for the items. The only way I can see around this is to have the kit included in the price of the class but this generates a great deal of duplication. Should this be a feature request?

I think you're referring to this feature request. Our Product Teams are aware that it's pretty frustrating that you can only checkout items in your cart that all have the same fulfillment type. They're working hard to implement a feature that will allow multi-fulfillment checkout. We'll definitely update that thread when we hear something!

We just signed up for square based on recommendations and discovered the same issue.  Is there a timeline for resolution?  This is a deal breaker for my business as we are registered as a benefit corporation with one goal making it easier for customers to donate to various local causes.  If they are required to make two transactions many will skip it defeating the whole purpose of one easy check out.  This is an important fix that many of us really need!  Thank you.
