Feature Request: Bottle by the glass inventory

Feature Request: Bottle by the glass inventory

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Bottle by the glass Inventory

For inventory purposes, when I ring up a glass of wine how can I set it up for it to automatically discount a bottle of wine from the inventory?

Re: Feature Request: Bottle by the glass inventory

We're happy to announce a new Square for Retail feature: Sell-by Units and Stock Conversion.

Square for Retail Plus subscribers will now be able to sell an item in different units, and track inventory with those units - for instance, sell candles by a case of 12, by a bundle of 6, or by a single candle.

I second your request @GregC68 for an update on this feature request. This one has been on the backlog far to long to not have a value drop on this feature.

Square- can you guys at least add a unit option under variations of 'glass' and 'bottle'? I see that there are several other options there that hint at portions but beverage portions would help us with a workaround on this for now...

Hey Chad people have been asking for this feature sine 2017 and with all the upgrades in square this still hasn't been resolved for us bar/shop owners.   Very frustrating

I would like to echo the four year old sentiment that this is a glaring omission to Square. I run a wine/spirits shop and we sell 4-packs and individual cans of several products. That we cannot easily pull this a single inventory or need to add a discount to that one item, painfully slows down checkout. Would love to see some progress on this front.

It's now 2022 and this issue still hasn't been resolved.

One of the biggest problems with Square....is the lack of a "bug tracker" or a "feature request" list that is available to Square customers. They only have this forum and its run by folks who have no insight into the development of the product.

Big upvote for this.

We sell wine by the glass and bottle, and need to deduct 1/5 of a bottle from inventory when a glass is sold. We're currently using two separate items for glass and bottle sales of each wine. This requires us to remove bottles from "Bottled" inventory and add it to "BTG" inventory, which is extra work when software could do it for us (aside: Lightspeed Retail POS does this gracefully).

One upside to using two different items is having them in different categories so it's easy to report on bottle vs BTG sales.

Lightspeed calls this "box items", and it's helpful for other items as well. Individual item sales breaks a "box" and removes one of those items from the box, reducing inventory of the box item by 1 and adding the remaining individual items to item inventory.

In my scenario, a bottle would be a "box" that contains 5 glasses ("items"). When we sell a glass ("item") below inventory it breaks a bottle ("box"), reduces bottle inventory by 1 and increases glass inventory by 4 (5 from the bottle minus the 1 that was just sold). In this way low stock alerts on bottles ("box") and glasses ("item") would still be accurate and meaningful.

Again – BIG UPVOTE FOR THIS.
