Feature Request: Bundle items as a single item, pull from inventory individually - combo/combination

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Inventory: Can you bundle items together as a single item or special?

We have multiple products for the same price.   We offer a 3 for $20 special, which is a mix & match of any three products.   How do I handle the inventory count?   Do I need to add each item with the discounted amount, so at check out I would have to select three discounted items?   Or do I add each item at the regular amount and apply an overall discount?

Hey @FurnishbyIsa and welcome to the Community!

This isn't something we offer at this time.

This would be a feature request we can pass up but I haven't seen any other requests for this yet. Hopefully other sellers who are looking for this can add onto the thread!

Re: Can square reduce inventory of two different items sold as one?

Hi there!

Unfortunately for bundle created items that combine two separate items together will not reduce your inventory for each.

What you can do is create a discount and apply it to the sale when both items are purchased together.

This will reduce your inventory and also reduce the price to the amount that you like.

Re: How to track inventory with a mix & match 3 for $20 special?

Hey @Baconation, thanks for surfacing!

I can see how this would be a bit tricky for your 3-for-$20 special, especially since inventory is a high priority.

Depending on how you need to track your items, I have three suggestions:

  1. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply an overall discount.
Pro: Allows you to track the inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special.
Con: You would have to ring up the 3-for-$20 special as a separate transaction. Otherwise, the discount will apply to the entire sale.

  2. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply the discount to each of the three items.
Pro: Allows you to track inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special and ring up additional items in a single transaction.
Con: More of a manual process that may increase the length of time to complete a sale.

  3. Create a "3-for-$20 Special" item.
Pro: It's fast and since the price would be locked, you can add it to a sale with other items.
Con: You wouldn't be able to track each individual item within included with the "3-for-$20 Special" item.

I understand how automating this would be super helpful for your business and I'll be sure to share your experience with our product liaison team.

Hope this helps clear things up for now. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Thanks for adding your voice here, @Keisha. I appreciate you sharing your personal experience and clarifying how much this feature would help your business. We are actively working towards bringing these new features into fruition. We will continue to push out updates here on this thread when we have news to share.

Thanks for your patience!

PLEASE ADD THESE THINGS!!! I can not believe it has been in the works for over 2 years from what I can see from other discussions. I am SO close to moving to an entirely different system. I have little experience in the restaurant business just opened a few months ago and IMMEDIATELY found this to be an issue. So I can only imagine how the long term customers feel that have reached out about this. Add modifiers to give more details for each item -  K, M, P, O, L on burger. Combo sections with different item prices. SO many things need additional details...this should be a gimme!  also - has to be a better way to add inventory and deduct each item sale from that inventory count. So frustrated. ALSO - shouldn't there always be a way to contact customer service if our business mostly relies on your system? Please get it together!

I would like to take items from my inventory and group them into gift sets. Is there a way to create and item that is actually a grouping of items?

If not, does anyone have a good work around for this so that our inventory gets tracked and our customers have the ease of choosing a gift set?

Thank youuuu for any advice or tips,

Amy

Hey there, @dairysweetjt

Could you give me a little more information on the type of inventory tracking you are looking for?

There is basic inventory tracking through your Item Library. Here is a Support Article with more information.

Also, you can reach out to Customer Support using this link. It gives you options to contact by phone, email, or messaging.

Hey @Acordy-

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.

This is a frequently requested feature that we're still working on. We'll be posting updates in this thread.

I don't currently have a workaround suggestion. Do you have any ideas @pessosices?

Hey @Acordy & @isabelle

Hmm, there might not be a super easy way to do it, but I have a couple of ideas to simplify it a little bit.

For in-person sales on POS, you could arrange a page of your item grid to have the items close together as a little reminder that they’re a package.
If there’s a discount for the package, you can out the discount in the same column/row.

For the online store, you can add a block for Featured Items for each package, and put the items together.
If there’s a discount, you could make a coupon code and in the Description for the Section, tell them to use the code “______” for the discount.

Hope that helps!

@Acordy

I hope you don't mind if I suggest a paid solution that's a workaround. Trunk can do grouping and bundling for sets for Square. More info on this feature here: https://go.trunkinventory.com/helpbundles

Geez, this would be so much easier if Square just made it possible to link items together for inventory. We wouldn’t need to have extra costs to purchase 3rd party software.

I am referring to it automatically deducting from your reported inventory to avoid having to verify each item's total sale per the serving size. So it would eventually run out.... just like you start the drawer with your total cash count when you put the cash in and it tells you what is expected in the drawer as you proceed with sales through out the day ... why can't it keep track of how many chicken strips I have so it is more apparent when we are low so that I can easily order more without having to do a physical count every single order day to see what we need. (i probably would still do a check in the freezers at times because I get there is food waste on occasion but for the most part it should be able to give a better idea). Also - is there an after hours way of having direct contact for questions or issues that arise? Maybe I missed that?

Hi. Couldn't you just keep inventory based on serving size? So, in other words.

Small Chicken Tenders = X servings in inventory

Medium Chicken Tenders = Y servings in inventory

Large Chicken Tenders = Z servings in inventory

Then you would simply multiply the remaining servings by the number of tenders in each serving and you'd automatically know how many tenders you had at any given time.

ie. X x 3 tenders, Y x 5 tenders, Z x 7 tenders

So if X, Y, Z are 3, 7, 2 respectively then

3 x 3 + 7 x 5 + 2 x 7 =

9 + 35 + 14 = 58 tenders

Maybe that won't work, but something like that - ie thinking of inventory for certain items like tenders in "servings".
