Feature Request: Bundle items as a single item, pull from inventory individually - combo/combination

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Inventory: Can you bundle items together as a single item or special?

We have multiple products for the same price.   We offer a 3 for $20 special, which is a mix & match of any three products.   How do I handle the inventory count?   Do I need to add each item with the discounted amount, so at check out I would have to select three discounted items?   Or do I add each item at the regular amount and apply an overall discount?

Hey @FurnishbyIsa and welcome to the Community!

This isn't something we offer at this time.

This would be a feature request we can pass up but I haven't seen any other requests for this yet. Hopefully other sellers who are looking for this can add onto the thread!

Re: Can square reduce inventory of two different items sold as one?

Hi there!

Unfortunately for bundle created items that combine two separate items together will not reduce your inventory for each.

What you can do is create a discount and apply it to the sale when both items are purchased together.

This will reduce your inventory and also reduce the price to the amount that you like.

Re: How to track inventory with a mix & match 3 for $20 special?

Hey @Baconation, thanks for surfacing!

I can see how this would be a bit tricky for your 3-for-$20 special, especially since inventory is a high priority.

Depending on how you need to track your items, I have three suggestions:

  1. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply an overall discount.
Pro: Allows you to track the inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special.
Con: You would have to ring up the 3-for-$20 special as a separate transaction. Otherwise, the discount will apply to the entire sale.

  2. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply the discount to each of the three items.
Pro: Allows you to track inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special and ring up additional items in a single transaction.
Con: More of a manual process that may increase the length of time to complete a sale.

  3. Create a "3-for-$20 Special" item.
Pro: It's fast and since the price would be locked, you can add it to a sale with other items.
Con: You wouldn't be able to track each individual item within included with the "3-for-$20 Special" item.

I understand how automating this would be super helpful for your business and I'll be sure to share your experience with our product liaison team.

Hope this helps clear things up for now. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

This is a needed function, and standard with most POS systems!

This reply was created by merging the thread, "If I set up a gift set, can I set it to take other items I have in inventory to make the gift set?".

I sell homemade soap, lotion and bath bombs.  We have started offering a couple of gift set options.  The large set includes a large lotion, large bar of soap, bath bomb, soap dish and soap saver.  The small contains a small lotion, small soap and bath bomb.  They can pick their scent.  Currently I add the gift set as an item, then I have to add each individual item (to keep inventory straight), then I add a discount of the total items so that they get the correct price.  Is there any way I can pick the gift set and the scent and it will take the soap and lotion out of inventory?

👋 Hi @fieldsofgoats! Currently there isn't a way to create a set or checkout a combination of items in a single item. This is a request we've heard before and I understand how useful it would be for gift sets. I've added your post to this thread — that way if we have an updates to share you'll be notified automatically.

Those are all wildly unhelpful to a business that needs a trainable proceedure for staff, and/or a business that hopes to maintain a tight inventory system.
Almost all major POS systems have combo/bundle capability. I'd hope it was a priority to add as a feature.

Is there an update on this topic?

This reply was created from merging an existing thread: We need a Bundle option similar to what shopventory offers!! Please

Please square the technology is there. You have millions of customers that need a bundle feature for check out and inventory purposes. Shopventory has this feature and it works extremely well the only issue is when our e-commerce site (big commerce), shopventory and square are all linked together it creates a mess of our inventory. I would be the happiest person on the planet if bundled itmes were a thing through square 🙂

Thanks for your post @TVS14, I'm sorry that this isn't available yet — I wish I had better news for you!

In the meantime I'm adding your post to this thread so that you can stay up to date with this request.

I'm trying to see if Sqare's inventory management will fit my needs.  I have a restaurant and need to track inventory.  It appears that Square offers a basic level of tracking and is perfect if you're selling items that are easily tracked individually.  In terms of inventory for my restuarant, I want to be able to track everything, but also be able to program quick buttons for meals that will include multiple items.  For example, if I have a combo that includes a burger & fries, it appears that I can't track the inventory for both of these items by using the quick button for this.  In order to track the actual stock level for the fries and the burgers, I would need to ring each item up individually because I have to indicate stock for each item individually.

Am I seeing this correctly?  Or do you know of a better way in doing this?  I would like to be able to use my quick buttons for meals because it saves times instead of ringing up each thing individually, but if I can't track inventory this way, maybe my only option is to ring each thing up individually.

Thanks in advance!

Hello @bonvo1108, welcome to the Seller Community!

I went ahead and merged your thread with this one, since this questions been asked before. It helps us track your feedback in one place. 🙂

Currently we don't have this functionality, but this request is growing in popularity and we're actively tracking this thread. 🙂

Square folks...this thread has been going on since 2016. We really need the ability to bundle items and track inventory as well. We sell juice cleanses and could literally have 35 juices in a multi-day cleanse. Going back and adjusting inventory manually or ringing each juice in separately is really cumbersome. The community needs this feature. We need to know if it’s in the plans or not, and where it is on the priority list. Thank you.

This comment was created by merging the thread "Combined items in a package."

I have read a few threads on adding discounts to packages where there doesn't appear to be a solution.  My question is similar, but different...

I would like to create a package that conisists of multiple items, a t-shirt and jersey for example.  I can create the items inidvidually, and use variations to capture the sizes for each independently which works fine.  However, I'd like to have 2 pacakages, one with just the t-shirt and other package goodies, and a second with the t-shirt, jersey, and other pacakge goodies.  If a package is available it would ensure that the user gets everything included in the package and provide a method to capture sizine for the two clothig items.

Is there a method to do this?
