Feature Request: Bundle items as a single item, pull from inventory individually - combo/combination

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Inventory: Can you bundle items together as a single item or special?

We have multiple products for the same price.   We offer a 3 for $20 special, which is a mix & match of any three products.   How do I handle the inventory count?   Do I need to add each item with the discounted amount, so at check out I would have to select three discounted items?   Or do I add each item at the regular amount and apply an overall discount?

Hey @FurnishbyIsa and welcome to the Community!

This isn't something we offer at this time.

This would be a feature request we can pass up but I haven't seen any other requests for this yet. Hopefully other sellers who are looking for this can add onto the thread!

Re: Can square reduce inventory of two different items sold as one?

Hi there!

Unfortunately for bundle created items that combine two separate items together will not reduce your inventory for each.

What you can do is create a discount and apply it to the sale when both items are purchased together.

This will reduce your inventory and also reduce the price to the amount that you like.

Re: How to track inventory with a mix & match 3 for $20 special?

Hey @Baconation, thanks for surfacing!

I can see how this would be a bit tricky for your 3-for-$20 special, especially since inventory is a high priority.

Depending on how you need to track your items, I have three suggestions:

  1. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply an overall discount.
Pro: Allows you to track the inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special.
Con: You would have to ring up the 3-for-$20 special as a separate transaction. Otherwise, the discount will apply to the entire sale.

  2. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply the discount to each of the three items.
Pro: Allows you to track inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special and ring up additional items in a single transaction.
Con: More of a manual process that may increase the length of time to complete a sale.

  3. Create a "3-for-$20 Special" item.
Pro: It's fast and since the price would be locked, you can add it to a sale with other items.
Con: You wouldn't be able to track each individual item within included with the "3-for-$20 Special" item.

I understand how automating this would be super helpful for your business and I'll be sure to share your experience with our product liaison team.

Hope this helps clear things up for now. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

i also need the grouped inventory feature.  i see skin care products individually, but also as kits, all pulling from the same inventory. Currently I can't list the kits in my online store as there's no way efficient way to track them other than manual inventory update for each sale.

Hi, This thread & the request for grouped item inventory stared in 2017 but there is still no progress.  Same with most other request threads I've followed (like the need to make customer's feedback postable to ones website).  Square used to be much more responsive to its customers.

Hi there, @Blee - thanks for jumping it and checking in on this Feature Request. We field thousands of feature requests each week here on the Seller Community, and bringing these features to fruition often takes an ample amount of time and effort from our engineers. We want to ensure that our releases are not just surface level products, but the best all-around resources to help you grow your business.

Were you able to find success with the suggested workaround above with the Trunk integration with Square?

[The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Automatic Discounts (BOGO) and Inventory Levels]

Should an automatic discount (in this case a BOGO variation) update the inventory level of the discounted item?  In our case, we sell buckets of beer.  I am trying to create an automatic discount that says if someone purchases a bucket of beer (which does not have inventory tracking turned on), then they automatically get a 100% discount on 5 of the same type of beer.  For example, we have Bud Light which has a current inventory of 100 bottles.  We have a Bud Light Bucket (which is actually just a variation of the Bud Light item) that has an automatic discount applied that says if someone purchases 1 Bud Light Bucket, they get a 100% discount on 5 Bud  Light bottles.  The problem is that after someone purchases a bucket, the inventory level for the Bud Light does not go down - in this example, we'd want it to go down from 100 to 95.  So should an automatic discount for a BOGO scenario decrease the inventory level of the second item that the discount is applying to?

Hi @davefackler,

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.

Currently, the only way to deduct inventory from your management system is to add the item to the sale. If you use a discount, it will not affect inventory management whatsoever.

Please let me know if you have any other questions by replying to this thread.

I have a bagel shop and offer different type of sandwiches with the option of different bagels how do I enter the daily inventory so it reflects if its use with different sandwiches ?

Alumni

@jasehiangel You'll need to add each sandwich bagel option as item variations if you'd like to track inventory.

Creating a modifier set for bagel options would be a simpler solution because a set can be applied to as many sandwich items, but stock amounts cannot be added.

Note: Even though modifiers cannot track inventory, you're able to generate a modifier sales report.

Any updates on this request yet? This would also be an extremely beneficial feature for retail operators who would like to sell bundles/ product packages

following as we are also in desperate need of this function.

Hello @RivertownGames,

Thank you for posting in the Seller Community. Welcome.

Currently the ability to create products in your library that deduct more than one (1) item from your inventory is a feature request.

We definitely see how it could benefit your business model. Our teams are constantly looking through our seller's feedback to make necessary improvements, and we will be sure to let you know if anything ever changes or if new updates are released.
