Feature Request: Bundle items as a single item, pull from inventory individually - combo/combination

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Inventory: Can you bundle items together as a single item or special?

We have multiple products for the same price.   We offer a 3 for $20 special, which is a mix & match of any three products.   How do I handle the inventory count?   Do I need to add each item with the discounted amount, so at check out I would have to select three discounted items?   Or do I add each item at the regular amount and apply an overall discount?

Hey @FurnishbyIsa and welcome to the Community!

This isn't something we offer at this time.

This would be a feature request we can pass up but I haven't seen any other requests for this yet. Hopefully other sellers who are looking for this can add onto the thread!

Re: Can square reduce inventory of two different items sold as one?

Hi there!

Unfortunately for bundle created items that combine two separate items together will not reduce your inventory for each.

What you can do is create a discount and apply it to the sale when both items are purchased together.

This will reduce your inventory and also reduce the price to the amount that you like.

Re: How to track inventory with a mix & match 3 for $20 special?

Hey @Baconation, thanks for surfacing!

I can see how this would be a bit tricky for your 3-for-$20 special, especially since inventory is a high priority.

Depending on how you need to track your items, I have three suggestions:

  1. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply an overall discount.
Pro: Allows you to track the inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special.
Con: You would have to ring up the 3-for-$20 special as a separate transaction. Otherwise, the discount will apply to the entire sale.

  2. Add each item individually to the sale, then apply the discount to each of the three items.
Pro: Allows you to track inventory for each item regardless of being part of the special and ring up additional items in a single transaction.
Con: More of a manual process that may increase the length of time to complete a sale.

  3. Create a "3-for-$20 Special" item.
Pro: It's fast and since the price would be locked, you can add it to a sale with other items.
Con: You wouldn't be able to track each individual item within included with the "3-for-$20 Special" item.

I understand how automating this would be super helpful for your business and I'll be sure to share your experience with our product liaison team.

Hope this helps clear things up for now. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

We have been waiting for four years for the bundle request feature to be added to square.  Still nothing has happened.

Trunk can do bundling & kitting in the meantime if you're looking for a solution today: https://squareup.com/us/en/app-marketplace/app/trunk

@tspoutlet Here's an example that matches your scenario: https://help.trunkinventory.com/en/articles/4593513-example-keeping-shirts-synced-across-different-s...

I have similar inventory needs.  The options and variations help but not exactly what i need.  I have specific add-ons that need to be available for multiple items as well as sold ala carte.  when an order is placed it needs to pull from a shared inventory to reduce the inventory correctly.  Presently, it requires a count in the variation which isnt able to connect to the ala carte nor reduce availability in all the items it is available for, to show an accurate number available.  Instead, its adding each variation count to that item only.  this makes it appear like we have much more of the option on-hand.  I need to offer the same add-on option to many items and as an ala carte to be purchased separately that the inventory is shared among many items as an addon for those particular items.  I hope that makes sense.

example:

item A:      $45  (deducts from Item A's inventory)

comes with X   (deducts from X's inventory)

upgrade option XY ( deducts from XY's inventory and shows a different price)

Multiple items share these add-on options and need to deduct from one inventory pool

X sold separately as an item in itself deducts from X inventory

XY sold separately as an item itself deducts from XY's inventory

Variations are ok, but it doesnt tie in the inventory count and i cant use this at all if it doesnt allow me to track the components correctly.  I just wasted weeks and money if i can't find a work around at the least.

I need to sell in 12 pack or 24 packs. I want the customer to be able to choose any variation of multiple items, but ultimately only be able to order in increments of 12 minimum, 24 maximum per shipment. Any ideas on how I can do this?

Are there any updates on this topic! @Alex_ ? We need this too!

This reply was created from merging an existing thread: Inventory Tracker for for "Variety Pack"

When selling multiple variations or flavors of a packaged food item, it is nice to be able to offer a Variety Pack. A great way for a customer to try your full spread of products with one click rather than adding each variation to the cart individually. I have been trying to figure out if I can create a new "Item" that consists of all variations as the Variety Pack, and still have the inventory tracker subtract 1 of each item variation every time the variety pack is sold. And I mean subtract from the same inventory bank for each variation just as it would if one item was purchased individually. I was informed by a chat rep that this couldnt be done and the inventory would have to be subtracted manually with each variety pack sale. You see where this could maybe go wrong. This would be a very nice feature to have, and I hope it is considered by the Square team.

Kudos to your first post @cyperson

That's a feature request. Unfortunately Square's inventory system cannot support selling bundles/multi packs.

This is very frustrating to find out just as I am about to launch our restaurant. Knowing this, knowing what I'm serving and to not have any type of work around.... so many other options out there and this is a  detriment to all of this. I may have to get a refund on my square options and start over.

I found a third party app that works with square called Shopventory. It’s been amazing!
