Feature Request: Sync inventory across multiple locations

The title of this post has been edited from the original: Multi-Location Inventory - All locations use same inventory

 

Is there a way to have multiple locations use the same inventory? We sell orders from several locations and need to track by location, but the inventory comes from the same stock. Aside from assigning a certain amount of inventory to each location, and likely having to shuffle the inventory around within square, and possibly thinking we are out and ordering more when there's plenty in the inventory of another location... Can certain items be assigned from a central inventory stock and other items be location specific? 

 

I'm not seeing this is possible now, but is it something being considered? 

I'm using Square POS, not retail. I believe retail has a more robust inventory system, but retail is just far more in general than we need.

I sell at Crafts Fairs and use my trailer as a warehouse. The only way I've been able to accomplish this so far is to use identifying SKU's.

So for example: If I sell an item out of inventory which is on my table, that item is SKU Seahorse-TPU-01(Seahorse Table Puzzle).

 

It's a real PITA but if I have one in the warehouse, it would be SKU'd as Seahorse-WPU-01 (Warehouse Puzzle). When I retrieve it, I change the W to T. I now have 0 Inventory in the warehouse and only table inventory.

 

To further get around this, I would have another as IPU for Internet Puzzle. That kills several birds with one stone, as I no longer get the "Out of Stock" message on my website which is even worse since it costs me money! Yes, I have to enter each item several times and assign it to different locations, but it works for me until something easier comes along.

 

I hate having to work around simple items.

This is what I'm looking for: let's say I have locations A, B, C, and D listed in the Square. Location A is where the walk-in freezer is. So if I sell from location A it shows as having one removed from inventory. What I need is if I sell from location B it takes it out of location A inventory, or if I sell from location C, D it takes it out of location A inventory because that is the only inventory that I carry. If I load the market trailer with 10 of a given product for location B but I only sell 6 of 10 items, then I still have four left on the trailer. Those four plus the six from restocking the trailer will move on to location C.

So  I am in the same boat. We have a online store and a retail location. We ship from the retail location for online purchases. As others have mentioned, it has been 3 years since the first request for a pooled inventory feature was made. Transferring stock or re-inventorying items is time consuming. That is not what business owners want to hear. Are there any other work arounds to pool master inventory?

Thank you for adding your vote to this feature request and letting us know this is still something you're hoping we improve, @freeshipcbd. I can see how frustrating it would be to transfer stock - while I don't have a workaround, we're continuing to advocate for the requests we receive here. 

I'm another Square user that needs this feature. I keep all my inventory in one place and sell from the online store but sell in multiple locations. I want to be able to have each location be able to sell from the one inventory source. When will this feature be added? Looks like folks have been asking for 5 years?

Hi, I am just adding y concern and NEED!!  We have 2 locations and a website.  I will only allow me to pull from One location.  this is not working.  We end up over selling or showing out of stock online because it will only pull inventory from ONE location.  I really hope this is something that will be fixed ASAP!!

One inventory for multiple locations would be extremely helpful. I sell in person and several different events and markets and online. I have multiple locations available for pick up as well. I don't want for people to be able to select an infinite quantity of something to pick up, when in reality, there are only five of that thing. This makes no sense that this inventory tracking is not yet available.

I just looked at how long this thread has been running. 2016 is the earliest post I can find. Why, since vendors have been asking for six years now, has this not been made available? My lack of a central inventory is very difficult to order the cuts of meat without actually going into the freezer and counting every single piece. Help folks out here Square. 

So many folks, myself included are asking for a central inventory that all locations draw from. When is Square going to give us this? @Tom @HappyCucumber
