I need help with this too, but the only option I can find under "Personal Information" is to change my business name. I have a typo and would like to correct It without having to start over with my online shop, etc.
Unfortunately you aren’t able to edit the legal name you used to activate your Square account. If you'd like to fix a typo with your activation name, you'll need to create a new Square account.
Fortunately the activation name is not public facing in any way.
Actually, if we take the (hypothetical) situation of having the account owner's name columns as part of the key in the database, the change wouldn't be just a reworking of the code, it would require a new (read sane) model or schema and a complete migration of the existing database, with a transition mechanism and the whole shebang.
Kinda like when Microsoft bought Skype and they partially migrated logins from Skype usernames to Microsoft account logins, or when they did something similar with MSN, hotmail, live, etc. if you have experience with that, but worse.
My business name has been updated on everything but the "owner details". Usually this is not a problem but I recently started using the shipping labels and it shows the owner name and not what I've update the business to. It is not reflective of my brand. Can this be updated?
I am a female business-owner who set up my Square account when I was married. Now that I'm divorced, I would like to change my name as the business owner to my maiden name. However, Square does not offer that option. So my appointments still show up to my clients with my old last name - even though the legal name of my business no longer includes it. I've successfully dropped his last name everywhere but here, and it would be great to have the option to change it on Square, where the majority of client appointments and transactions are made.
Our business is a non-profit. The former director put her personal name on the account instead of the business's name. She has left and not under the best circumstances. Everything we send out has her name on it. Now we are utilizing the appointments app. When they make an appointment it automatically replies they have an appointment with her. We received our first reservation request and immediately received a phone call stating they wanted to eat lunch not have a meeting with her- this is ridiculous. if i deactivate the account, does that mean our entire history goes down the drain? Why is it so hard to edit the owner's name?
All you have to do is in your Square Dashboard, go to the account settings page by clicking on the name in the upper right-hand corner. Under basic information, you can edit the business name there.
I would also check some other things like your location details there and your email settings to make sure that is set up how you want it.
