I have one product with 2 different prices , one wholesale and one retail but i am pulling both from the same inventory.
if for example 10 are pulled from wholesale it doesn't adjust the overall inventory, is this possible?

Re: inventory

Hey @groovy, welcome to the seller community! 👋🏻

Thanks for bringing this up. If I'm understanding your inventory needs correctly, it sounds like you would be able to use the price points feature. For example, if you were to set up different price points for each item labeled as "Retail" and "Wholesale", your inventory would decrease appropriately. Learn more about how to set this up in this article: Item Variants or Price Points.

We've also partnered with a handful of inventory management services who may be able to offer a more customized solution. For more info head over to your App Marketplace > Items & Inventory.

Hope this helps get you where you need to be. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know. In addition, if any other Square sellers who sell products at variable prices have any pro tips to share on this topic—feel free to chime in!

How do you have a separate area for wholesale and retail? Where do you set that up? I am struggling trying to set up wholesale pricing in a different way or location from my retail pricing. Thanks in advance!

Hi @cmtnicole! - thanks for joining in, and welcome to the Seller Community 😇

There isn't a definitive way to separate wholesale from retail as of now, but as you can see from some Sellers who have had curiosity on this issue in the past, the best workaround would be to create 'wholesale' and 'retail' as separate categories. That way, you could differentiate your pricing and sales for each one.

We have also had Merchants create a separate location for their wholesale, as well.

Let us know what works best for you!

I used several locations for separate RETAIL markets and set up another location for WHOLESALE. I collapsed them into one location in preparation for the cost changes happening on the Square platform that directly increased the cost per location. Since only one person is using the WHOLESALE location--it didn't seem like I could justify the increased cost. Losing the access to easy reports for wholesale is really a hassle and I think I might have to reinstate WHOLESALE as a separate location.

Hey @boldcitypops - thanks for writing in. Another option would be categorizing your Wholesale items from your Retail Items.

If these two categories share the same item, you can create duplicates and include (W) and (R) somewhere the item name and properly add them to their respective categories. That way, you can pull a report that drills down the the category's sales/data.

Kinda cumbersome if you have a lot of items, but it's worth a try. Any other seller out there have any ideas that might help?

Hi Tom (or anyone).

1-If I go with the "discount" method, my wholesale "discounts" are variable and item specific.  If I am invoicing the customer, can a different discount be applied to each specific item or is each discount attributed to the entire invoice as a whole?

2-If I create two "locations" one Retail one Wholesale, same products with different price points, am I able transfer specific item inventory between "locations" even though the price points are different?  Or will it see them as completely separate items because the price point is different?

Hey @salmon-

Thanks for posting in this thread.

1) As of right now, itemized discounts can't be applied when using Square Invoices. Any discounts added to the invoice would be applied to the total for the invoice.

2) If you were to have two locations, you can still have one item with two different price points (per location). When creating an item, you'll see an option near pricing to "Edit Per Location". When looking at reporting, you'll view the reports per location, and you'll be able to see the pricing/sale info for the item at both locations, so separately.

I hope this make sense. Please let me know if you have any questions about this, as I know it's a bit confusing.

I create an item variation, so each item has a regular price and a wholesale price. I have to pull reports into Excel to manipulate with a pivot table, but I can get a total of all the "Wholesale" items and then break it down by item.

Hi all,

Is there a way to have a wholesale & retail price per item? I use the options for sml, med & lrg. I think the only way will be to do it with variation but this sounds like a headache.

Hi @D2F great question and welcome to the Seller Community! You are correct, there isn't a way to do this besides either creating item variations or having two separate items entirely. The way this would work would honestly depend on how you have your inventory stock set up and what works best for you. Another thing you can consider is adding a discount to all sales in which the purchases are wholesale. This can be an automatic discount (say, if someone purcases 5 of one item, the wholesale discount will auto apply), or be manual if you have different criteria for your wholesale sales.

I hope this gives you a good starting place to consider different prices. @pessosices and @GlassJudy do you have any ideas or workarounds that have worked for you?

Definitely a tricky thing!

You can do Variations for the different price points, or @AshleyK 's discount idea

Another alternative would be do setup a Square Location for Wholesale -- I believe inventory syncs across locations?

It would work best if you have a separate device for wholesale vs retail - it's a couple of steps to switch locations on a device.

Hope you find something that works fro you!
