Inventory Management - Wholesale and Retail Pricing

I have one product with 2 different prices , one wholesale and one retail but i am pulling both from the same inventory.
if for example 10 are pulled from wholesale it doesn't adjust the overall inventory, is this possible?

Re: inventory

Hey @groovy, welcome to the seller community! 👋🏻

Thanks for bringing this up. If I'm understanding your inventory needs correctly, it sounds like you would be able to use the price points feature. For example, if you were to set up different price points for each item labeled as "Retail" and "Wholesale", your inventory would decrease appropriately. Learn more about how to set this up in this article: Item Variants or Price Points.

We've also partnered with a handful of inventory management services who may be able to offer a more customized solution. For more info head over to your App Marketplace > Items & Inventory.

Hope this helps get you where you need to be. If you have any other questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know. In addition, if any other Square sellers who sell products at variable prices have any pro tips to share on this topic—feel free to chime in!

cost pricing is a premium feature of Square for Retail which is a paid premium Square program.  you can get more information here.  https://squareup.com/us/en/point-of-sale/retail.   It is a different app and is more barcode based and not grid-based app like Square POS is.

I just use a spreadsheet with my cost and merge it with the sales information from square that you can download.

thank you for the reply.

in the paid premium Square program, are you able to give commission to employee and add that item to the appointment check out process?

Hey @mikethebarber, thanks for circling back. You can pay employee commissions with Square Payroll: How can I pay commission based employees?

Does that get at what you're needing to do? Please let me know if I'm missing the mark regarding where in the process you'd need to give commission to your employee and I'll be happy to run this by our Retail Team for a closer look. 🙂

We need to be able to separate our reports by retail and wholesale but we're not sure how to tag each product so that Square can identify said products for reports.

Thank you for any ideas you are able to provide!!

Hello @testaspantry!

With Square Point of Sale there isn't a way to separate wholesale items from retail items - other than either giving those items a specific name, or by separating items into a different categories.

You might want to take a look at Square for Retail which does have advanced inventory and more detailed reporting options. There is a monthly subscription for Square for Retail but there's a 30-day free trial if you'd like to check it out! (Note: the Square for Retail app is currently only available on iPads.)

Super Seller

There really isn't a specific way other than by item name.

What we do since I want more accurate data is to have a separate location in Square for wholesale and one for retail.  now I get much more accurate sales data for each different market as they are completely different parts of our business.
